About Montaione
Montaione lies on the top of a hill in the heart of the Tuscany countryside, at 373 mt on the sea level, surrounded by the typical landscape of Elsa Valley, characterised by Chianti vineyards, olive trees, rows of cypresses and extended woods, which occupy great part of the common territory for and extension of 10490 hectares.
Montaione, which ancient origins comes from the Etruscan-Romans settlements, it's today a town with 3.500 inhabitants, and offer every kind of service useful for your holiday, from banks to supermarkets, postal offices and tourist information desk, bus service, handicraft shops and typical restaurants.

Hills that surround Montaione's territory are principally cultivated with wineyard and olive groves, Chianti wine enliven the tables with its vivid and bright taste, while the Extra vergine Oil of Olive, with its deep green let dishes more savoury.
Montaione is committed for the safe of its territory and is member together with other towns of Tuscany and Italy, of the Association Cittą dell'Olio for the purpose to promote the culture of Oil of Olive and to organize some festivals and events, like the one called "Pane e olio in Frantoio" carried out at the end of November. Moreover, Montaione is situated in a wide truffle area, between San Miniato and San Gimignano; this is a area where the White Truffle is picked. For that reason, Montaione, which is a member of the Association Cittą del Tartufo, every year celebrate the white truffle with an event at the end of October.
Also Honey and Mushrooms together with chestnuts are only some of the typical products of our territory in addition to junket and cheeses made by the milk of our cattle. Are also famous the quality sausages like "soprassata", "finocchiona" and tuscan salami, most of them produced by "Cinta Senese", a special kind of pork breeded in the surrounding of Montaione, and vintage in Tuscany.
It is important not to forget the Tuscan bread for which Montaione is member of the Association Cittą del Pane. Moreover, the wide variety of wild animals (like hares, pheasants, wild boars, woodcocks) and farm animals (rabbits, chickens, ducks) enriches the table in every period of the year. |

"The apartment was spotless, large and had a full kitchen. We also enjoyed cherries from the orchard.
Great, country setting, a few blocks from stores, plaza and gelato! Honestly, we cannot say enough good about this place.
It is likely the only place we stayed that we would go back to. And next time, we will stay longer here.
You should see the view of the Tuscan countryside from this place".

We rented the apartment "Zelinda", which is in a BEAUTIFUL site, very RELAXING and easy to access by car (we can park into the propriety).
Paola, her husband and her relatives are very kind and give good suggestions.
The apartment is very equipped, the bedding very confortable and the garden is a welcome. It is very easy to take the train in Castelfiorentino and reach Florence, Siena and Pisa.

The place is very calm and the garden is relaxing. Montaione is very well locates to discover Tuscany. All the big cities are less than 1hour of driving. The countryside is wonderful".
